FAQs
The FAQs are a "work in progress". As I have time I am moving my extensive "notes database" of common questions I or others have answered on the Borland newsgroups, onto this website. For more extensive help of a given topic, Click the "Search" link above to search on various newsgroups search engines. Code is available on the Downloads page Creating Custom Providers in JBuilder - The basic architecture of Borland's DataExpress Providers is discussed and a more advance provider is illustrated using XML from a servlet. Code is available on the Downloads page Web Development with JSP and JavaBeans - Basic overview of architecture and design patterns using JSP, JavaBeans to improve Web application maintainence. Developing JSP Web Applications - An overview of JSP web development using JBuilder. Web Application Setup and Deployment with JBuilder - Basic Web Developement using JBuilder. Emphasis on Delployment issues for web applications. Writing Custom JSP Tag Libraries - An intermediate level overview of developing custom JSP tag libraries. Thin and Smart Web Clients - This is a 50+ page paper that outlines the various technologies that can be used to solve many of the issues promised by applets. Much of this is about 2 years old and in "java" time this is VERY OLD. But despite that, there are a number of concepts that are still quite valid today. Web Technologies and Business - This is a short "white" paper that reflects a strategy that Micro-Phyla Systems is recommending and implementing for a number of businesses.
